Princess Cruises Embarkation Day – What to expect
I did all the research, and placed “Hold” on the cruise I wanted which locked in the price for three days. Then I called my PVP to do the final booking so that she got credit for the booking. Travel professionals took it on the chin over the last couple of years so I wanted to toss her some business even though I really don’t gain anything by her finalizing the booking. After weeks of trying to get answers from anyone or even a reply I gave up and cancelled our first cruise ever. One day maybe I will find a local TA I am happy with. Not sure Princess is all that interested in hanging on to their existing customers.

Much rather have an independent TA working to resolve any issues with the cruise line (JMHO). I've asked my TA to plead my case with Princess for some sort of compensation like upgrades, OBC, or other perks, but that has never worked. Highly unlikely we would ever cruise with a Plus or Premium package. And we don’t buy many drinks onboard but an occasional one.

Went on their website and tried to book a cruise, their website insisted that I give name/address/phone#/email before it would allow me to go further. Chose a cruise and was informed that they'd "get back to me". A couple of years ago Princess changed things so that I only have a very short window after booking to transfer the booking to my TA.
So, yeah, I am very happy with my PVP of 5 years. Before her I would just call the Princess number, and deal with the PVP I got. If they were friendly and responsive I would keep their name/number, but generally 2nd time would be a disappointment, so back to random contact again.
I always felt we were snagging the best cruise price in most cases by booking “last minute” (last 2-3 months). We book a lot of guarantees for the best price and rarely have been unhappy with what we actually got. 👆 Back side of the Princess cruise activities schedule on a port day.
Just before final payment I would transfer the booking to a local TA who then gave me a discount on the fare. It was the best of both worlds for both me and the TA. I did call and I believe I stated that I do not begrudge vacation. On the other hand, professionals are generally expected to adapt schedules to critical period.
We have a back to back on different ships and again, I can only see excursions or make dining plans on the first of the 2 cruises. Old app had numerous problems but there were ways to navigate through app to get things done albeit app was very slow to load. This app is way slower and useless in many of the needed functions. I have had to rely on using the online webpage and using my planner at Princess. I think if they are going to push us to use this app starting today (3/8), they should have made it much more usable then it is now. Working with the Princess planner seemed to be a good option as I still have direct control over things and perhaps they would be a helpful path to resolving issues a bit easier.
Specialty restaurants such as Sabatini’s, Crown Grill and Crab Shack have an additional charge. If you’d like to have a more intimate or special meal, you may really enjoy this. On top of this there’s ice cream and popcorn on the pool deck. My best for any ship, is to explore as much as possible, and discover all it has to offer.
I would think bottom line is something that would be taught in business school. We were approached via email by a PVP after we had booked and paid for a cruise (interestingly, she was aware of our previous Princess Cruise history, but not of our current booking). Since we had a small issue that Princess customer service couldn't resolve with the current booking, we reached out to this PVP and she was able to help out. Your habit of booking AFTER the final payment date is one of the two very BEST ways to get the lowest prices AND the most OBC/perks. (as the cruise line is absolutely desperate to fill every cabin that they possibly can) This strategy does come at the cost of losing out on "more desirable" cabins.
Onboard activities offered on sea days will be different from port days. Every Princess cruise has onboard activities led by the entertainment team of each cruise ship. I have a great TA that I know others use here. She is a top seller for several cruise lines, operates a small office, but does a huge volume.
